Cookie Policy
We use cookies to keep Filmswear.com running smoothly and to understand how our customers find us. This page explains exactly what we use, why we use it, and how you can control it.
🍪 What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device — your computer, phone, or tablet — when you visit a website. They are widely used by websites to make them work more efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to give website owners information about how their site is being used.
Cookies are not programs — they cannot carry viruses, install malware, or access other files on your device. They are simply small data files that help websites function and improve over time. The information stored in a cookie is defined and controlled by the website that sets it.
At Filmswear.com, we use cookies for one reason above all else: to make your shopping experience as smooth and relevant as possible. From keeping your cart intact while you browse to understanding which Hollywood jacket collections are most popular — cookies help us serve you better. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or sell your data to third parties. Ever.
📂 Cookie Categories We Use
We use four distinct categories of cookies on Filmswear.com. Each serves a specific purpose, and only Essential Cookies are active by default without your consent. All other categories require your explicit agreement.

✅ Your Consent & Controls
Under the UK PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we are required to obtain your consent before placing any non-essential cookies on your device. Here is how each category is handled:
- Click the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of any page on Filmswear.com to reopen the consent banner at any time
- You can withdraw consent for any optional cookie category at any time — your choice takes effect immediately
- Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing that took place before withdrawal
- Your consent preferences are stored in the fw_consent cookie for 12 months, then you will be asked again
🔗 Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on Filmswear.com are set by third-party services that we use to operate and improve our business. These third parties have their own privacy policies and cookie practices, which are independent of Filmswear.
- Google Analytics (Alphabet Inc.): Used to analyse website traffic and user behaviour in aggregated, anonymised form. Google processes data under its own Privacy Policy. We have enabled IP anonymisation on all Google Analytics tracking.
- Stripe (Stripe Inc.): Our payment processor may set essential cookies during the checkout process to enable secure card transactions and fraud prevention. Stripe's cookies are strictly necessary and cannot be disabled without breaking checkout.
- Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Inc.): Only active if you have consented to Marketing Cookies. The Meta Pixel tracks conversions from Facebook and Instagram ads and enables us to reach relevant audiences. You can opt out via Meta's Ad Preferences at any time.
- Google Ads (Alphabet Inc.): Only active if you have consented to Marketing Cookies. Tracks ad conversions and supports remarketing. Manage your Google ad settings at adssettings.google.com.
- PayPal (PayPal Holdings Inc.): If you pay via PayPal, their service may set cookies to authenticate your payment session. These are strictly necessary for the payment flow.
- We never sell your cookie data or browsing behaviour to any third party for profit
- We never allow third parties to use Filmswear cookies to build profiles unrelated to our own marketing
- We never share personal identifiers (name, email, address) with advertising cookie providers without separate consent
- We never use cross-site tracking technologies that follow you across unrelated websites
⚙️ Managing Cookies in Your Browser
In addition to our on-site consent controls, every modern browser allows you to view, block, or delete cookies directly. Below are quick paths to cookie settings in the most commonly used browsers. Note that blocking all cookies will prevent the Filmswear checkout from functioning correctly.
If you block or delete all cookies via your browser, the Filmswear shopping cart, checkout, and login will not function. We recommend using our on-site consent panel to manage optional cookies rather than blocking all cookies at the browser level. Essential cookies are the minimum required for a functional shopping experience.
🗓️ Cookie Durations & Data Retention
Cookies fall into two categories by duration: session cookies which are deleted when you close your browser, and persistent cookies which remain on your device until they expire or you delete them.
- Session Cookies: Expire automatically when your browser session ends (when you close the tab or browser). Filmswear uses session cookies for login state and CSRF security tokens.
- Persistent Cookies: Remain on your device for a set period — ranging from 24 hours (analytics session tracking) to 2 years (Google Analytics user identifier). See the full table in Section 03 for exact durations per cookie.
- Consent Cookie (fw_consent): Stored for 12 months. After this period, you will be presented with the consent banner again to refresh your preferences.
- Analytics Data Retention: Anonymised Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months within Google's systems, as configured in our Google Analytics account, after which it is automatically deleted.
- Your Right to Early Deletion: You can delete any or all cookies at any time via your browser settings, or by selecting "Withdraw All Optional Cookies" in our Cookie Settings panel in the site footer.
⚖️ Legal Basis for Cookie Use
